Killdebt.com (opens in a new tab) is empowering. I have to say, after sending off several letters to creditors requesting very specific information (still in the debt validation phase) and to have them ignore the specific requests and send a bunch of junk to intimidate me in return, it feels good to keep going back at them. I have had to upgrade to large envelopes as my responses to their nonsense/fluff have outgrown normal letter sized envelopes.
On another note, this is why people cannot afford to hire attorney's and pay by the hour to fight these collectors. I spent the last 1.5 hours just reading the template Parkergpt created for me and making the relevant changes to my facts, I do not even want to think about the time to type up the letter from scrach. Then printing off the letter, gathering the past letters, copying them, labeling the envelope etc. Can you imagine paying $300+ per hour to have a law office do this? It's not doable by most, if you could afford this, you could afford to pay off the debt!
