Received incorrect advice on number of Discovery requests I was allowed

Splash · April 5, 2026

I received wrong advice on how many discovery requests I could ask for. In CA for LIMITED CIVIL cases - it's 35 total in all categories but the GPT told me it's 35 limit each for 2 of my categories and unlimited in Requests for Production, but that's only for UNLIMITED CIVIL. I thought I had it in the bag. The opposition decided to answer only the weakest of my Requests and ignore the rest especially authentication requests. So I guess my path to fix this is ask opposition to stipulate, and if they don't, do a "Declaration for Additional Discovery” under CCP §94 (Co-Pilot told me to do, but probably a Motion is more correct) and hope the judge will allow it, but that will drag things on for another potential 1-3 months. Can you tweak the GPT so it doesn't do this? so it makes note of how much our civil case is, because different rules can apply between LIMITED and UNLIMITED?

I think "Declaration for Additional Discovery” under CCP §94 is the wrong thing - actually Co-Pilot told me to do that. ParkerGPT said to do a motion after trying to get the other party to agree on a stipulation which is correct. I just have to figure out what kind of motion. It went through a few kinds of motions. I will see if Self Help at court could tell me.

Self help cannot give you legal advice. They can Only help you with which documents to file. I too had Parker GPT give me the wrong motion to file. But only because it was unclear to our conversation. I had to do a motion to vacate and then refile my correct motion. I was late on the time that I could file by 4 months, see my conversation in another chat, forget the subject, but something along the lines of what not to do. Parker gpt was so sure that I was going to win, but due to my late filing, the judge couldn’t even look at my motion. I had a strong motion.

Make sure to give yourself enough time to get the Info from Parker gpt and then research research research to make sure it’s all correct.

It helped me win my other 2 cases. One of em on appeal.

Thank you Shwiefels. Good advice all around. I strive every day to make ParkerGPT (at least better than me) perfect but it is dependent on the prompt we provide. I always end my prompt by asking, "Any further questions of me?" so there is no doubt as to what I need and how ParkerGPT should respond. Thank you.
