Need recommendation regarding sham CRA investigations

sean · April 15, 2026

Has anyone had experience with sham investigations from the credit bureaus regarding a disputed Tradeline in which the furnisher has had multiple debt validation and verification letters sent yet has not responded?

Then submitted a direct dispute with the CRA's, to then be told the accounts have been "certified" by the furnisher as accurate, and tell you to reach out to the furnisher?

If you are correct that you have stuff on your credit that is false and inaccurate, you have a case under the FCRA for removal and damages.

Hi Brian, I also have a CFPB complaint in which the same debt collector responded, completely ignoring the attachments, which included copies of my consumer letters, including a direct cease-and-desist, usps confirmation that they had received them over 30+ days prior to my CFPB complaint, and the same company using the response portion of the CFPB to attempt to collect.

Portion of their CFPB Response (exact words):

"We understand life can bring unexpected financial challenges, and that is why we are willing to work with the customer to resolve their account in a mutually beneficial way. To stop further escalation, our Accounting Department has approved the following options for resolution: ○ Lump sum settlement in the amount of $3,142.22 if paid on or before 04/22/26 with a credit or debit card on file. ○ Make 12 zero interest monthly payments in the amount of $290.94 on the full balance of $3,491.36 beginning on 4/22/26 with a credit card on file. Once the final payment is received, we will update the mark from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion credit reporting agencies."
