My state allows a debt collector to sue you with out submitting any supporting docuemnts and that seems to be the norm here. And it turns out almost all debt collection lawsuits are done here via "pocket service" here. Meaning, they can serve you with the suit without filing it first but have 10 days from serving you to then file the suit. And your 21 day answer clock starts ticking down the moment you get served on your unfiled lawsuit. So basically I have to build an answer off of the bare bones, no supporting docs attached, lawsuit and my counter affidavit as well. I dont get their docs until up 14 days after I file my answer and I have 42 days from the answer filing to turn in my docs.
Brian, maybe you could do a video on how you would handle this if the states you practice in started allowed debt collectors to do the exact same there. Thanks
