I want to give a huge thanks to Brian for his intention in creating this platform! I’ve been dealing with a fraudulent debt since August 2025 which eventually ended up being reported as a collection March of this year. After my attempts to get the original creditor (Greystar Property Management) to honor my due balance, they sent to me titled “final account move-out statement (10k after security deposits applied) they instead decided to forward the debt to collections using a revised and backdated move out statement (17k after security deposits applied). The collection company (Columbia Debt Recovery a.k.a Genesis) contacted me via email in January, I sent them a debt validation letter and they responded with the same backdated and revised move-out statement, shortly after they reported the debt to all 3 bureaus (with the consumer disputes debt disclosure of course). I mailed both parties again to retrieve and correct the amount, but received no response, however Columbia stopped updating the balance the following month, they had updated the balance in April to reflect the 6% interest. I signed up for KillDebt and was able to put together some very thorough letters and exhibits to show the bureaus of this fraudulent debt, not even a week passed and all 3 bureaus deleted the collection. I am now working on taking Greystar to civil court for a bad faith case! This win has been a huge stress reliever for my family and I, specially after being turned down by a “landlord/tenant” attorney, we refused to give up!
