I have been fighting a PRA debt collection for almost 2 years. It wasn’t until October2025 that I filed a CFPB complaint against; PRA, Experian and Transunion for verifying this debt without any paperwork, when I saw what PRA had as “debt validation” I was livid, 1) an alleged letter from Synchrony Bank notifying me my account was now with PRA (no dollar amount on the alleged debt owed just 699) 2) a Synchrony card statement from July 2024 with a $400 balance 3) PRA debt notice for $658. I had mailed PRA a debt validation back in 2020 and provided them my correct mailing address, the debt collection notice they uploaded onto the CFPB portal claiming was their response to that debt validation had a completely incorrect address for me. But this week Transunion stated “their system” will no longer allow this account to be disputed.

So PRA actually sued me for this debt back in 2024. A month later they filed a motion to dismiss, today I requested and received all the documents from the court. 1) PRA provided courts an incorrect address to serve me, even though all of the supporting document they submitted showed my current address. 2) the documents don’t show I was ever served, not even attempted to be serve me 3) they originally reported one balance to the bureaus, months later they updated the balance -$41 from the initial Reported amount. I saw that in the court documents they submitted they included a bank statement which supports the “updated” balance not the original balance they claimed I owed. This makes me think they don’t have the chain of assignment I’ve been demanding for almost 2 years. Yet Transunion and Experian continue to verify this debt

If the information is being used in defense of a lawsuit, this is good stuff. BPP
