Hi Brian, I just learned that Credit One is being sued for FRAUDULENT activity, (not surprised at all by this) Anyway, my question is when this happens with the original creditor, how does this affect our current case with the debt buyer? Is it wise to join the class action? Can we use it in our defense? Any answer, your opinion (what you would do), even a video would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
The best answer is what is included as the" opt in" or "opt out" options of class members accepting the settlement. Get ahold of the class notice and see what it says as to the effects on that case and others. So, it might mention the class settlement's effects on companies buying their debt. Go to the class action settlement website for everything you need specific to that settlement. There is always a lay person explanation-don't rely on the legal stuff until you first read that. Good luck.
Thank you so much for your answer. I did some research and apparently there is a scam going on with this supposed 2025 settlement. There are various websites online for people to click on, put in their information that are fradulent. No wonder I couldn’t find a class action settlement website/notice.
However, I did uncover that there were class action suits filed against Credit One in 2017, 2020 and 2024.
The Credit One Class Action Lawsuit is Anthony Waldon, et al. v Credit One Bank, N.A., Case No. 7:20-cv-10003, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
